報告題目:Study on asteroids by sample return mission
The overall research of Prof. Akira Tsuchiyama is conducted on earth and planetary science, petrology, mineralogy and economic geology. He has published more than 150 papers on international journals including Science(10), EPSL(5), GCA(10), CMP(5), MPS(26) and AM(5). His recent research interests include the analysis of samples returned from asteroids, the research on primitive solar materials (chondrites and cometary dust) and development of 3D observation methods.
報告摘要:
Asteroids are small celestial bodies that did not grow into planets and thus have information about the early solar system and evolution. The lecture will summarize the outline of the already obtained results on S-type asteroid 25143 Itokawa returned to Earth by the Hayabusa mission in June 2010, which is the first sample recovered from an asteroid and returned to Earth. This lecture will also present what we expect from the analysis of Hayabusa2 and OSIRIS-REx samples, which is scheduled to be returned to Earth in December 2020 by Hayabusa2 spacecraft of JAXA and in September 2023 by the OSIRIS-REx mission of NASA, respectively.
